Stated Meeting Project
The Masonic Renewal is entering into an ambitious program to assist Lodges in improving the stated meeting experience. Two or three generations ago Lodges actively discussed the welfare of its brothers and taught the ideals and customs of Freemasonry. Over the course of the last century our practices have changed. Many of our stated meetings consist of merely reading the minutes, paying the bills, and then having light refreshments. We need to return to a time when a Lodge was actively involved in the welfare of its members, teaching the ideals of Freemasonry, insisting that members live a Masonic life, and enjoying the fruits of brotherhood.
A majority of our members want this type of Masonic experience. We need to provide it for them. But, to do so we must change some of our current habits.
If one follows Facebook Masonic groups you will see that there is a groundswell of support for this change. We believe that this is an idea whose time has come. We wish to partner with those brothers who write blogs, create videos, host podcasts, and publish periodicals to encourage a movement to cause this change. We need to create the tools and methods for Lodges to use so this change becomes habit. Many cultural changes throughout history were caused by a movement of many like-minded people and groups working together toward a common goal. This call to action is no different. We hope you will join in this movement to change the stated meeting and enhance our Masonic experience.
